So how do you make it to the top these days? Bringing a bunch of friends with you certainly helps, though any promoter who’s booking you due to your ticket count is probably not taking you too seriously. Here are a few DJ tips to help your transition from the bedroom to the booth.
Learn Your Craft
Being able to use a wide variety of DJing equipment will stand you in good stead in the long run, because if your laptop goes down, you’re going to have to be able to instantly react. Or go home. That will look good. Be True to Yourself

Let’s face facts, anyone with a laptop, a piece of DJ software and an Ed Hardy cap can call themselves a DJ these, but what separates the men from the boys, or the women from the girls? Production skills – most producers have to take up DJing to make money these days, and the same works on the flip side for DJs. If you can produce a top dance floor anthem then the bookings will come flooding in, plus your fees will increase dramatically.
