15 Magical Years for Fabric Nightclub
Without question the best nightclub in the country, Fabric celebrate their 15th birthday this month with a two day party that is sure to see a few people slumped at their desks on the Monday morning! Having attended a few of these birthday bashes myself over the years, if you’re in the capital be sure to head down at some point over the 30 hours that they are open. Sunday afternoon is particularly hilarious!
That’s right, Fabric celebrate their birthday with a THIRTY hour party, so get down there and rave safe to the sounds of Ricardo Villalobos, Ben Klock, Seth Troxler, Doc Martin, Mathew Jonson etc from Saturday 18th at 11pm until Monday 20th at 5am. You don’t need to stay in there all day and night though, they have a number of different ticket choices available. Best book Monday and Tuesday off though!
With London’s night life a little up and down over the past ten years, it’s great to see Fabric keep up their high level of consistency with quality line ups week in, week out. Their intelligent bookings see them continue to hand pick major headline DJs alongside the latest underground acts, one of the main reasons they have managed to stay on the cutting edge for so long
Check out this great video below by DJ Kid Bachelor about the humble beginnings of Fabric, which features an interesting interview about the initial ideas and planning with owner Keith Reilly.
Here’s a few interesting and random facts that have happened at Fabric over the last 15 years.
- The toilets have been flushed over 40 million times
- Over 100 slip mats have been used
- MCs have managed to break 75 microphones
- 20,000 cases of wine have been chugged
- 1600 needles have been replaces on turntables
15 years is a long time to survive in the notoriously fickle world of clubbing, so how have Fabric managed to pull it off? I think the most important thing is that they believe in their product and stick to their principles. They have never overcharged on door prices for the calibre of line-ups they provide. Plus of course, they have THAT sound system!
With the introduction of late licenses to bars, it has become more and more difficult for nightclubs to pull in the punters as they once did. We may never see another nightclub in London celebrate their 15th birthday and Fabric has managed to keep the fire burning for clubbing in the capital by sticking to their principles. A massive congratulations to everyone at Fabric for their amazing endeavours over the years and here’s to many more birthdays to come.
